Cross Country Awards 1. Award designations are
determined by the coaching staff. Most
athletes will receive the following awards based on their participation: a. Freshman Numerals – most
freshmen b. Sophomore Letter – most
sophomores. Freshmen who are one of
our top 7-10 f/s overall may also be eligible. c. Junior Varsity Letter –
all juniors and seniors not earning a varsity letter d. Varsity Letter – part of
the 12 man State meet roster, breaking 16:00 on a legitimate 3 mile
course, or a senior meeting the
following requirements: i.
Competes in at least two meets. ii.
Attends all practices and meets after the conference meet. The senior must travel and participate in a
designated warm-up and workout before or after the meet if they are not in
the actual race. iii.
Is passing all course work
by the Monday before the State meet. iv.
Attends the award ceremony In order to receive an
award, some basic expectations must be met: 1. The athlete must
participate in a minimum of two
meets during the season. 2. The athlete must attend
the award ceremony or provide written permission in advance from a
parent/guardian that they will miss the ceremony. Special awards are given out at the awards banquet
in addition to the letters. They are: a. Determination b. Most
Improved c. Leadership c. Consistency d. Team Player e. Most Valuable Two monetary scholarships are also awarded at the
awards ceremony. Both scholarships
require a written application by a particular deadline. |
